Everyday Banking
Transaction accounts, salary banking, debit cards, statements, transfers and everyday money management through a unified digital experience.
PROPOSEDBaank is a proposed digital-first banking institution intended to be based in Oshakati, Namibia, combining traditional banking services with modern payments, settlement and financial infrastructure.
Planned for Oshakati. Designed for Namibia's digital economy.
Baank is currently a proposed banking initiative in development. It is not licensed or authorised to conduct banking business and does not currently offer banking products or regulated financial services.
Baank's vision is to provide the breadth and reliability expected of a traditional bank through infrastructure designed for a digital-first economy. The model is intended to bring everyday banking, savings, payments, lending, business banking and, over time, wealth and other authorised financial services into one coherent digital experience.
Technology is the delivery layer—not the product. The objective is straightforward: simpler access, transparent service design, efficient operations, strong controls and financial infrastructure capable of serving individuals, entrepreneurs, SMEs and established businesses.
Transaction accounts, salary banking, debit cards, statements, transfers and everyday money management through a unified digital experience.
PROPOSEDAccessible savings, goal-based savings and term deposits designed around clear terms and transparent pricing.
PROPOSEDDomestic transfers, instant payments, bill payments, merchant payments and modern payment-processing capabilities.
PROPOSEDResponsible personal lending, vehicle finance, home finance and business credit, subject to the scope of future authorisation.
PROPOSEDBusiness accounts, collections, merchant services, invoicing, payroll, working capital tools and financial management infrastructure.
PROPOSEDA longer-term vision for investment and wealth services where separately authorised and supported by the applicable regulatory framework.
LONG-TERM · PROPOSEDDigital commerce depends on banking infrastructure that can accept, move, settle and safeguard money reliably. Baank is being conceived around both customer banking and the underlying payment capabilities required by merchants, businesses and eligible digital platforms.
Proposed merchant acquiring and processing infrastructure for in-person, online and mobile commerce, including payment links, invoicing, terminals and API-based acceptance where authorised.
Reliable domestic settlement and, where permitted, cross-border payment capabilities designed around operational resilience, reconciliation and transparent transaction status.
Proposed institutional safeguarding, custody and reserve-management capabilities for eligible clients and platforms, subject to applicable banking, prudential and other regulatory requirements.
Secure interfaces intended to allow approved businesses and financial platforms to integrate authorised banking and payment capabilities into their own products.
Baank intends to make the mobile and web experience the primary banking environment: onboarding, identity verification, payments, savings, card controls, statements, borrowing and support in one place.
Concept only. Features are not currently available and remain subject to licensing, regulatory approval and final product design.
Baank's proposed business platform is inspired by the breadth of modern full-service banking: the account at the core, connected to payment acceptance, payables, invoicing, cash-flow visibility, employee access, lending and merchant infrastructure.
Operating accounts, savings, debit cards, delegated user permissions, statements and transaction controls.
Card and digital payment acceptance, POS, Tap to Pay, online checkout, payment links, invoicing and recurring billing where supported.
Vendor payments, employee payments, scheduled transfers, batch payments and approval workflows.
Transaction analytics, reconciliation, reporting and a consolidated view of incoming and outgoing funds.
Working capital, lines of credit, asset finance and other business lending products where authorised.
Infrastructure intended to connect approved commerce platforms, accounting tools and enterprise systems to banking and payments.
Namibia's digital economy needs financial infrastructure that can bank, process, settle and safeguard money reliably.
Baank is being conceived in response to the need for modern banking and payment infrastructure capable of supporting individuals, merchants, businesses and eligible emerging financial platforms.
Its longer-term infrastructure vision includes payment processing, settlement, custody and reserve-management services where those activities fall within the scope of applicable licences and regulatory approvals.
One potential future use case is supporting emerging financial infrastructure such as NADD (Namibia Digital Dollar, including appropriate banking relationships for reserve custody, settlement and related services.
Baank does not currently hold NADD reserves or provide banking, custody, settlement or other services to NADD. References to NADD describe a potential future relationship and do not represent regulatory approval or endorsement of either initiative. Any future relationship between Baank and NADD would be subject to applicable regulatory approval, arm's-length governance, segregation of relevant assets, related-party controls, independent assurance and transparent disclosure.
Baank is not being established as a captive bank for NADD. Its intended capabilities are designed for a broader market.
Baank's long-term infrastructure vision includes developing crypto-enabled banking capabilities capable of supporting eligible digital assets, stablecoins, tokenized financial instruments and appropriately licensed virtual-asset service providers through banking, payment, settlement, reserve-management, custody-related and API infrastructure.
The objective is not to operate Baank as a crypto exchange. It is to develop regulated banking infrastructure capable of connecting conventional financial rails with eligible digital-asset ecosystems where those activities are legally permissible and fall within the scope of the licences, approvals and regulatory frameworks applicable to Baank and any participating service provider.
Regulatory perimeter: Any future digital-asset, virtual-asset, custody, investment, payment or tokenized-financial-instrument activity would only be undertaken where legally permissible and after obtaining any banking, virtual-asset, payment, financial-markets or other authorisation required for that specific activity. A future banking licence would not, by itself, be represented as authorising activities that require separate regulatory approval.
Baank is intended to be based in Oshakati, Namibia. Its digital-first model starts from the principle that internationally credible financial infrastructure can be built from northern Namibia and designed around the needs of a modern, connected economy.
The target for full commercial launch is 2030. The path to that target is institutional: corporate structuring and any required prior regulatory approvals, planned regulatory engagement, capital planning, governance, technology, risk, compliance, payments infrastructure, operating controls and launch readiness.
Planned foundation work: concept development, corporate structuring and any required prior regulatory approvals, feasibility, governance design, capital planning, regulatory preparation and early institutional engagement.
Subject to regulatory progression: capital formation, licensing process, board and management buildout, technology, cybersecurity, risk, compliance, payments and operational readiness.
Subject to regulatory progression: prudential readiness, systems integration, controls testing, operational resilience, independent assurance, payment infrastructure validation, staffing and launch preparation.
Target commencement of fully commercial authorised operations only after receipt of the required banking licence and any other applicable regulatory approvals.
The roadmap describes planned work, not a record of completed milestones or approvals. 2030 is a target and does not represent or guarantee regulatory approval, licensing or commencement of banking operations.
Baank is an emerging financial services initiative focused on developing modern, transparent and scalable financial infrastructure and services.
Conceived as a digital-first banking institution to be based in Oshakati, Namibia, Baank intends to combine traditional banking with modern payments, settlement, custody and technology-enabled financial infrastructure.
Its long-term objective is to deliver the capabilities people and businesses expect from a full-service bank through infrastructure designed for the digital economy.
